DuoFest and other weekend shows

I’m playing a bunch in the next couple days and this weekend:

Tonight (Thursday, January 26th) I’m headed up to Lowell to play with the Goodtime Stringband at Life Alive. We’ll be playing from 6 until 8 pm.

Tomorrow (Friday, January 27th) I’ll be in Lawrence playing with Back to the Roots, the hip hop/riot folk collaboration of Evan Greer and spiritchild. We’re playing as part of the kickoff to the People’s Music Network Winter Gathering, happening this weekend.

Saturday (January 28th) I’ll be playing an informal show at the Pawtucket Wintertime Farmers Market from 10 am til 1 pm with Garlic & Moonshine.

Following that (also on Saturday), I’m excited to be a part of DuoFest, happening from 3 pm until 7 or so at Atwoods in Cambridge. DuoFest is an afternoon of music featuring many duos of the same instrument (so two guitars, two banjos, two cellos, two saxophones…) I’ll be playing with another upright bass player, Tony Leva. We’ve been playing a bunch together to work up a set, and it’s been really fun to play with another upright bassist! We’ll be performing an original arrangement of a North African tune, one of my tunes, and a couple of other bass duets. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and the whole afternoon of music is just $5.

Also stay tuned for some upcoming recording releases–the new Ethan Robbins & Cold Chocolate EP is almost finished, and the debut Spider Cider EP coming together quickly as well!

shows this weekend

I’m back from the west coast and will be playing a bunch of shows this weekend with several different bands, check it out:

Friday night (November 11th) Spider Cider is playing at the HeARTbeat Collective (35 Wyman St in Jamaica Plain) around 9:30 pm for their big party celebrating all sorts of stuff (but mostly the date being 11.11.11). Also playing are Incus and Melodeego. Also promised are a bonfire and circus tricks.

Saturday night (November 12th) I’ve got two shows back to back. I’ll be starting by playing a solo set at 8 pm at the Hope Central Church in JP for their annual fall harvest concert. Also playing are The Whiskey Boys, Anne’s Cordial, and James Merenda. Then I’ll be headed out to Marlborough, MA to join up with the Kristen Ford Band for our first gig since Kristen’s been back from her two-month tour. The show’s at The Lazy Dog, and starts at 7 pm, though we’ll be on closer to 10:30. Other performers include Kara Kulpa, Tilt-a-Whirl, Golden Spurs, and Eye Witness.

Sunday (November 13th) I’ve got another couple gigs. From 3 til 6 pm, I’ll be playing with the Goodtime Stringband at the Harpoon Brewery for their annual Beer-B-Q fundraiser for the Greater Boston Food Bank. That night, both Bottom of the Well and Spider Cider will be playing sets as part of the Boston Anarchist Book Fair after party at Encuentro 5 starting around 9 pm.

It’s a busy weekend, but it should be a lot of fun!
