A couple weeks ago my klezmer band Ezekiel’s Wheels was invited to play at the International Jewish Music Festival held in Amsterdam this October. It’s really exciting news–we’re one of just 24 bands invited to compete in the band contest from all over the world, and one of only two bands from the United States who will be playing!
It’s coming up fast, though, and we’ve still got a bunch of details to work out, including travel plans, airfare, lodging, food, and obtaining an upright bass somewhere in the Netherlands (if you have any leads on that last one, please contact me). Unfortunately, the festival can’t cover all of our expenses, so we’ve put together an online fundraising campaign through kickstarter to help us raise money.
Please visit the site and consider donating, every little bit helps and I’ve been amazed by how much support we’ve already gotten from friends, family, and even complete strangers! We set our goal on the low end to cover the bare minimum of costs (if we don’t reach our goal we don’t get anything), but if we raise more than our goal, we’ll be able to fully fund the whole trip, which would be amazing.
As an added incentive, we have lots of fun (and hilarious) prizes and rewards, from CDs to concerts to music lessons to dinner parties–check it out!
